In 2022, a student presented the chapter to the university&#8217;s Student Government and was unanimously denied due to Turning Point USA being &#8220;too controversial&#8221; for the school. The student was not in the room when the discussion occurred or when the vote took place. The student&#8217;s petition for appeal was also denied without further reasoning.

Asbury University receives an &#8220;A&#8221; grade for Required Equity, Diversity, or Inclusion Courses for Students. Requirements include Biblical Studies, Philosophy, Theology, Fine Arts, Writing, Literature, Communication, Foreign Language, History, Social Science, Math, Science, and Health and Physical Activity. Students are also <a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://www.asbury.edu/academics/cce/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">required</a> to complete a Cross-Cultural Engagement course.

Asbury University receives a &#8220;C&#8221; grade for Protests and Canceling Speakers. <a href="https://www.theasburycollegian.com/2022/10/students-walk-out-of-classes-as-part-of-national-lgbtq-protest/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In October 2022</a>, a walk-out was staged to protest &#8220;against religious schools&#8217; alleged treatment of LGBTQIA+ students.&#8221; The source said about two dozen Asbury students joined the demonstration on campus. Their demands included:

<li>&#8220;Basic human respect and clearer communication between students and administration.&#8221;</li>
<li>&#8220;Explicit protection of students against discrimination for gender and sexuality in academic, leadership, and employment positions as well as enrollment status.&#8221;</li>
<li>&#8220;Staff, faculty, and students [be] permitted to have pronouns in their email signatures.&#8221;</li>
</ul>
<a href="https://www.harlanenterprise.net/2023/06/07/not-all-sunshine-and-rainbows/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In October 2023</a>, Asbury&#8217;s LGBTQ+ students staged a walk-out on campus in partnership with two groups: the Black Menaces and the Religious Exemption Accountability Project. According to the source, a student helped organize the protest so more students felt comfortable &#8220;coming out as gay and transgender&#8221; on campus.
