Overly broad or vague definitions of bias put all kinds of speech at risk of being reported – even unpopular speech which is protected by the First Amendment.”

According to the <a href="https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2018/crime-in-the-u.s.-2018" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Federal Bureau of Investigation</a>, the Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts violent crime rate was 64.8 per 100,000 people in 2018, much lower than the 2018 national average of 380.56 per 100,000 people. While campus safety is of utmost importance, it is also pertinent to consider the crime rates of the surrounding town or city as students often tend to venture off campus, especially after their freshman year.

A significant aspect of her research and her publications concentrate on Wahhabism, a conservative sect of Islam whose adherents are known for their strict interpretation of Koranic Law. In an interview with a Saudi newspaper, she denied that any extremist movements in the Middle East had any connection to Islam, but instead argued <a href="https://www.memri.org/reports/american-professor-natana-delong-bas-%E2%80%98i-do-not-find-any-evidence-would-make-me-agree-osama" target="_blank" rel="noopener">that support of Israel is the root cause of terrorism against the West</a>,

Dr. Heather Cox Richardson is a <a href="https://www.bc.edu/bc-web/schools/mcas/departments/history/people/faculty-directory/heather-cox-richardson.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of History</a> at Boston College. Her area of interest is nineteenth-century American history, which she teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Richardson has <a href="https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/to-make-men-free-a-history-of-the-republican-party_heather-cox-richardson/8911738/#edition=59242139&amp;idiq=45881792" target="_blank" rel="noopener">written several books</a>, including To Make Men Free: a History of the Republican Party and How the South Won the Civil War.
When Dr. Richardson isn’t teaching or writing books on American history, she is making political comments to journalists. <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/11/biden-needs-an-enemy/620778/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In an article</a> for The Atlantic by Molly Jong-Fast titled “Biden Needs an Enemy,” Dr. Richardson suggested that President Biden declare war on conservatives.

Dr. Heather Cox Richardson is a <a href="https://www.bc.edu/bc-web/schools/mcas/departments/history/people/faculty-directory/heather-cox-richardson.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of History</a> at Boston College. Her area of interest is nineteenth-century American history, which she teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Richardson has <a href="https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/to-make-men-free-a-history-of-the-republican-party_heather-cox-richardson/8911738/#edition=59242139&amp;idiq=45881792" target="_blank" rel="noopener">written several books</a>, including To Make Men Free: a History of the Republican Party and How the South Won the Civil War.

When Dr. Richardson isn’t teaching or writing books on American history, she is making political comments to journalists. <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/11/biden-needs-an-enemy/620778/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In an article</a> for The Atlantic by Molly Jong-Fast titled “Biden Needs an Enemy,” Dr. Richardson suggested that President Biden declare war on conservatives.

As director of the “<a href="https://www.affirmlab.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Affirm Lab</a>,” she oversees a clinic that provides “affirmative care” to children and teenagers looking to transition genders.   
According to its main page, <a href="https://www.affirmlab.org/research.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the lab lists three “domains” of research,</a> which include: 
&#8211; Identifying the unique experiences of youth with 1+ stigmatized identities. 
&#8211; Determining how stigmatized youth’s unique experiences affect their mental health and well-being. 
&#8211; Identifying methods of improving care for stigmatized youth.
In partnership with the Boston Child Study Center, <a href="https://www.bc.edu/content/bc-web/schools/ssw/about/bcssw-news/2021/more_young_people_are_coming_out_as_transgender_this_psychologist_wants_to_teach_therapists_how_to_provide_gender_affirming_care.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Price will train 40 psychologists to provide affirmative care to minors suffering from gender dysphoria</a>. The program will further offer directions for counseling parents that wish to allow their children to transition.
The initiative is first being tested in Massachusetts and California. If successful, Dr. Price plans to roll out the program to the rest of the nation and vastly scale the number of psychologists trained. 
Dr. Price is further developing an online training program to support high school students suffering from gender dysphoria. The program is titled “IMPACTS”—Improving Methods of Providing Affirming Care to Transgender Students—and will work to train and equip high school teachers to cater to their trans students.

In January 2023, Copeland published an article in the <a href="https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/01/03/opinion/art-denial/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boston Globe</a> titled, “The art of denial: How racism deniers obscure the reality of racism, minimizing its significance.” He claims that racism denial is a “political strategy” perpetuated by those who “attempt to convince people racism is no longer an issue.”
Drawing on Ibram X.
