DePaul University receives a “C” grade for the Amount of Foreign Funding Received. According to <a href="https://sites.ed.gov/foreigngifts/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">College Foreign Gift Reporting</a>, the total amount of foreign funding the university has received is $2,987 per current undergraduate student. Oftentimes, foreign parties will convey their influence by funding certain courses, activities, professors, and organizations on campus. In certain cases, universities must abide by restrictions dictated by foreign parties to receive funding. In addition, there have been <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/top-universities-took-billions-in-unreported-foreign-funds-u-s-finds-11603226953" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a> that claim that universities underreport foreign funding. DePaul University receives an “F” grade for Required Equity, Diversity, or Inclusion Courses for Students. <a href="https://www.depaul.edu/academics/undergraduate/Pages/core-curriculum.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The university</a> requires all sophomore students to take a &#8220;Seminar on Multiculturalism in the U.S.&#8221; which will help students &#8220;gain a critical perspective on the historical roots of inequality and the lasting effects of oppression.&#8221;
In a separate page, the university labels the <a href="https://catalog.depaul.edu/undergraduate-core/liberal-studies-program/liberal-studies-common-core/seminar-multiculturalism-united-states/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">course</a> &#8220;Seminar on Race, Power and Resistance&#8221; and further describes the program.
&#8220;Each LSP 200 provides students with an opportunity to learn about the construction and experience of race, racism, and anti-racism. The various LSP 200 topics investigate the intertwined historical roots and/or current legacies of racial inequalities related to differences such as class, ethnicity, gender, age, language, religion, ability, and sexual orientation. Students gain a critical perspective about the historical roots of inequality, along with an understanding of the lasting effects of oppression on marginalized groups in society today. DePaul University receives an “F” grade for Boycotting, Divesting, and Sanctioning Israel (BDS). According to the <a href="https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/campus-divestment-resolutions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jewish Virtual Library</a>, since the start of the 2013-14 school year, the university’s student body has introduced two pieces of legislation that would require the university to divest from any Israeli company and from companies that do business with Israel. One piece of legislation passed while one failed.
Introducing these types of legislation often puts a target on Jewish and pro-Israel students and communities, fostering an environment vulnerable to antisemitism.

Boycotting, Divesting, and Sanctioning Israel

DePaul University receives a “C” grade for Mask and Vaccine Mandates. As of May 12, 2023, students, faculty and staff are no longer <a href="https://resources.depaul.edu/coronavirus/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">required</a> to be vaccinated for COVID-19. However, &#8220;everyone at DePaul is encouraged to stay up-to-date with their COVID vaccinations.&#8221;
Masks are optional on campus; but, &#8220;DePaul will continue to be a mask-friendly campus and wearing a mask will be highly recommended for all indoor spaces.&#8221;

According to the <a href="https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2018/crime-in-the-u.s.-2018" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Federal Bureau of Investigation</a>, the Chicago, Illinois violent crime rate was 1,006.09 per 100,000 people in 2018, much higher than the 2018 national average of 380.56 per 100,000 people. While campus safety is of utmost importance, it is also pertinent to consider the crime rates of the surrounding town or city as students often tend to venture off campus, especially after their freshman year.

Ryan was identified as the author of the blog—titled, "Abu Noor Al-Irlandee,"—<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20090302111536/https://muslimmatters.org/about/mm-associates/">by the site MuslimMatters</a>.

Al-Awlaki <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/Anwar-al-Awlaki" target="_blank" rel="noopener">was the mastermind </a>behind the Fort Hood Shooting and the attempted Christmas Day bombing attack of Northwest Airlines Flight 253 to Detroit, Michigan.

Ryan <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20081021002740/http://abunooralirlandee.wordpress.com/2008/08/31/alternative-visions-part-3a-shaykh-anwar-al-awlaki/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">further applauds</a> the “Mujahideen,” or Islamic guerrilla fighters, for resisting the American presence in Iraq and bringing an “Islamic revival” that will establish an Islamic State in the Middle East.

Pending an internal investigation, she faced two years of unpaid suspension. Dr. Cho then countersued against DePaul University and the law school’s Dean. In the suit against the Dean, Dr. Cho alleged she was retaliated against for being outspoken on racial issues and discrimination within the law school, claiming she and others were racially discriminated against.
