Global Diversity <a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://banner.ferris.edu:9000/pls/GOLD/bwckschd.p_disp_dyn_sched" target="_blank" rel="noopener">courses</a> appear relatively unbiased and include many foreign language courses as well as options  like &#8220;Intro to Cultural Anthropology&#8221; and &#8220;Intercultural Communication.&#8221; U.S. Diversity courses include &#8220;Gender Roles in Society,&#8221; &#8220;Race and Ethnicity in the U.S.,&#8221; and &#8220;Introduction to Women&#8217;s Studies.&#8221; However, these courses can be bypassed in favor of options such as &#8220;American Political Parties,&#8221; &#8220;Introduction to Psychology,&#8221; and &#8220;Introductory Sociology.&#8221;

Barry Mehler is a professor at <a href="https://www.ferris.edu/?pk_vid=1b76d13b0ef4fef4164365037299c15e" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ferris State University</a> in Big Rapids, Michigan. During one of his online classes, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrOzY86YcEM&amp;ab_channel=BarryMehler" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Mehler recorded himself cursing at the university administration and castigating his students as “vectors of disease.”</a>
The class itself was uploaded by Barry Mehler to his personal Youtube account. When the video begins, Dr. Mehler is seen wearing a face shield and face mask while recording in an empty room.
Dr. Mehler begins his lecture by warning that the air we breathe is dangerous, claiming that this is why “experts” continue to advise wearing masks at all times. Continuing, he states that our civilization is collapsing and that our species is going extinct.
After welcoming students to the class, Dr. Mehler launches into a profanity-laced polemic describing how he is “beholden to no c*ck-sucker” and no one in the university administration will tell him how to teach his class. He proceeds to describe his students as “vectors of disease” and states that he “no longer gives a flying f*ck,” as he is retiring at the end of the year.
Dr. Mehler further adds that students have no control over their grades in class—no matter how hard they work—admitting he assigns grades on the first day at random.
Toward the end of the lecture, Dr. Mehler berates his students, again referring to them as diseased. Beginning to yell, Dr. Mehler accuses his class of being “selfish kids” who “don’t give a sh*t” if grandpa lives or dies.” He urges students not to attend class as they risk infecting him and spreading COVID-19.

Soon after publishing the video, the university announced that Dr. Mehler was placed on leave while they investigate his conduct. He is <a href="https://campusreform.org/article?id=18887" target="_blank" rel="noopener">currently suing the school for allegedly violating his First Amendment Rights</a>.
