Oakton College is a public community college located in the city of Des Plaines, Illinois. The college has 50 student-led clubs and organizations with events throughout the academic year. Students also have opportunities to join one of 13 intercollegiate sports teams.
Oakton College students can earn degrees and certificates in 52 different fields. Popular programs include Liberal Arts and Sciences, Registered Nursing, and Biological and Physical Sciences. Distinguished Alumni Awards are given to graduates who exemplify the College&#8217;s vision and values in their respective careers and communities.

Oakton College receives a &#8220;B&#8221; grade for Mandated Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Training for Staff. The college <a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://www.oakton.edu/about/offices-and-departments/human-resources/center-for-professional-development.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">requires</a> new staff to complete an online orientation; however, the orientation topics are hidden behind a login screen.
Employees are given the option to complete optional <a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://www.oakton.edu/life-at-oakton/diversity-at-oakton/lgbtqia2-at-oakton/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SafeZone and Ally Training</a>. The training description states:
&#8220;SafeZone is a series of interactive trainings intended to allow students and employees to develop a better understanding of LGBTQIA2+ concerns and experiences, and become effective allies of the LGBTQIA2+ community. Participants are challenged to listen, share and grow.&#8221;

Mandated Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Training for Staff

Oakton College receives an &#8220;A&#8221; grade for not having a Bias Reporting System or Bias Response Team. Bias Reporting Systems and Response Teams are systems or teams of faculty, staff, and sometimes law enforcement.
According to <a href="https://speechfirst.org/bias-reporting-systems/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SpeechFirst</a>, students are “encouraged to report ‘bias incidents’ to these boards (or teams) in the name of inclusion and tolerance, but it’s often unclear what the school considers ‘bias’ in the first place. Overly broad or vague definitions of bias put all kinds of speech at risk of being reported – even unpopular speech which is protected by the First Amendment.”

Bias Reporting System or Bias Response Team

Oakton College receives an &#8220;F&#8221; grade for the Ratio of Right-Leaning Clubs to Left-Leaning Clubs.  Out of a list of 20 clubs (10 from each side), the <a href="https://www.oakton.edu/life-at-oakton/student-activities/clubs.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university</a> has zero right-leaning clubs compared to two left-leaning clubs. Pride! and Students for Social Justice are the left-leaning clubs.

Oakton College receives a &#8220;C&#8221; grade for not having an active Turning Point USA chapter. The university has not denied a Turning Point USA chapter on campus. Unfortunately, universities and Student Governments around the country often use their power to prevent certain clubs from operating on campus.

Denied Turning Point USA Chapter

Oakton College receives a &#8220;D&#8221; grade for In-State Tuition for Illegal Immigrants. According to the university&#8217;s Undocumented and DACA Students Information page, &#8220;<a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://www.oakton.edu/life-at-oakton/diversity-at-oakton/undocumented-and-daca-student-support.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Undocumented</a> and DACAmented students in Illinois are eligible for in-district tuition rates and have access to scholarships.&#8221;
The <a href="https://catalog.oakton.edu/academic-student-policies/tuition-fees/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tuition and Fees page</a> says:
&#8220;To be eligible for district resident tuition a student must: Live in Oakton&#8217;s district. Submit proof of district residency to the Enrollment Center by the date published in the class schedule. Proof is demonstrated by one of the following documents: a valid Illinois driver&#8217;s license or pre-printed renewal application; an Illinois state ID card; or a district high school transcript issued and with a graduation date within the last two years from the first day of the semester.&#8221;

In-State Tuition for Illegal Immigrants

Oakton College receives an &#8220;F&#8221; grade for Required Equity, Diversity, or Inclusion Courses for Students. Students are <a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://catalog.oakton.edu/baccalaureate-transfer-programs/general-education-core-curriculum/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">required</a> to complete one course in U.S. Diversity Studies. The <a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://catalog.oakton.edu/illinois-articulation-initiative/iai-general-education-courses/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">category</a> description states:
&#8220;The State of Illinois requires that all students earning an associate degree successfully complete a course that focuses on issues related to diversity in the U.S., including such topics as race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, immigration, indigenous communities, religion, ability/disability, and multiculturalism.&#8221; Course options include, but are not limited to:

<li>&#8220;Introduction to Ethnic Studies&#8221;</li>
<li>&#8220;LGBTQ+ Literature&#8221;</li>
<li>&#8220;Sociology of Sex and Gender&#8221;</li>
<li>&#8220;Sociology of Race and Ethnicity.&#8221;</li>

Oakton College receives an &#8220;A&#8221; grade for Segregated Dormitories, Graduations, and Classes. The university does not appear to have any segregated dormitories, graduation ceremonies, or classes by race or sexual orientation.

Protests and Canceling Speakers

Oakton College receives a &#8220;C&#8221; grade for Required Western Civilization Courses for Students. In the university&#8217;s <a href="https://catalog.oakton.edu/baccalaureate-transfer-programs/general-education-core-curriculum/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">general education requirements</a>, three courses must be taken from the <a href="https://catalog.oakton.edu/course-descriptions/course-descriptions-discipline/hum/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Humanity/Fine Arts category</a> (Area E); one must be from Humanities and one course must be from Fine Arts. The following courses are optional but can be bypassed for courses unrelated to Western Civilization:
