Oftentimes, foreign parties will convey their influence by funding certain courses, activities, professors, and organizations on campus. In certain cases, universities must abide by restrictions dictated by foreign parties to receive funding. Roughly 100 protestors <a href="https://www.wbaa.org/purdue-news/2022-01-14/students-and-faculty-protest-after-purdue-president-asks-where-are-all-the-men">marched</a> through campus to protest Purdue President Mitch Daniels. Daniels warned about gender disparities in his annual open letter. In 2016, Mr. Lee hosted a presentation in a business relationship class that labeled phrases such as, “American is a melting pot,” as “microaggressions.”
Harvard Professor Chester M. Pierce—who first coined the phrase—<a href="https://www.vox.com/2015/2/16/8031073/what-are-microaggressions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defines microaggressions as literal, “racial assaults” on minorities by white people</a>.
“These [racial] assaults to black dignity and black hope are incessant and cumulative. Any single one may be gross. In fact, the major vehicle for racism in this country is offenses done to blacks by whites in this sort of gratuitous neverending way. These offenses are microaggressions.“ &#8211; Chester M Pierce
Universities and public officials will often censor words or phrases they consider fit this definition. As City Journal notes, the SPLC operated “Hatewatch” exists to publish<a href="https://www.city-journal.org/html/demagogic-bully-15370.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> partisan attacks on groups with right-of-center positions</a>. Conservative groups are labeled as extremists, while destructive, Left-wing organizations like Antifa are virtually ignored.
Thanks to its prolific fundraising operations, the organization has successfully monetized its left-wing smear campaigns. The <a href="https://freebeacon.com/issues/southern-poverty-surpasses-half-billion-in-assets-121-million-now-offshore/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SPLC’s assets exceed half a billion dollars</a> with $121 million residing in offshore bank accounts alone.

Jamie Newman was an employee in the music department at Purdue. He left the university after he said he supported raping pro-life people because they oppose abortion in cases of rape. After seeing pro-life information on campus, Newman stated, &#8220;You folks are vile, racist idiots, who richly deserve all the opprobrium that will be heaped on you as a result of this unbelievably thoughtless, stupid escapade&#8221; and later, &#8220;Oh, I’m sorry. So, let me make my intentions quite explicit: I did in fact offer to rape Tom’s wife/daughter/great-grandmother. Free of charge, even. I’m generous that way.&#8221;

Bill Mullen

<a href="https://cla.purdue.edu/directory/profiles/bill-mullen.html">Bill Mullen</a> is a professor of English and American Studies at Purdue University. As stated in his university profile, he specializes in “American Literature and Studies, African American Studies, Cultural Studies, Working Class Studies, Critical Race Theory, and Marxist Theory.” Mullen also serves as a member of the organizing collective for the US Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel and is the co-founder of a national, campus-based ANTIFA organization. 
As part of the <a href="http://campusantifascistnetwork.com/">Campus Antifascist Network </a>(CAN), an ANTIFA-aligned group for university academics, Mullen <a href="https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2017/08/17/campus-group-proposing-broad-countermovement-against-white-nationalism-and-racism">described</a> his role as &#8220;to drive racists off campuses and to protect the most vulnerable from fascist attack.”
This sentiment is reflected in the <a href="http://campusantifascistnetwork.com/resources/">resources</a> listed on the CAN website. Not only does CAN declare that free-speech does not extend to “far-right” groups, it actively encourages students and faculty to confront groups on campus that they have labeled far-right, and lobbies universities to ban them. 
Mullen certainly believes that Turning Point USA should be banned from campus &#8211; he has previously <a href="https://mondoweiss.net/2017/07/where-zionism-right/">described</a> TPUSA as an “alt-right” group.

Mullen and SJP at Purdue both have a <a href="https://canarymission.org/professor/Bill_Mullen">history</a> of defending terrorists, with the latter <a href="https://purduesjp.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/myths_formated.pdf">writing</a> in 2009 that it is a &#8220;myth&#8221; that Hamas is a terrorist organization.
Mullen has also lauded terrorists, as Ghassan Kanafi is featured prominently on his <a href="https://www.billvmullen.com/welcome">personal blog</a>. <a href="https://www.camera.org/article/presbyterian-peacemakers-omit-relevant-facts-about-ghassan-kanafani/">Kanafi</a> is a Marxist-Lennist Terrorist known for his role in the <a href="https://www.investigativeproject.org/1550/justice-for-the-victims-of-the-lod-airport-attack">Lod Airport Massacre</a> in Israel that tragically killed 26 innocent civilians and injured an additional 80. His blog itself is titled, &#8220;From the River to the Sea,&#8221; a popular phrase used by those who want to wipe Israel off the map from the Jordan River to the Medditeranian Sea.
Mullen has also used his Facebook to call for the release of Khader Adnan, who is a convicted terrorist with Palestian Islamic Jihad.

<a href="https://cla.purdue.edu/directory/profiles/bill-mullen.html">Bill Mullen</a> is a professor of English and American Studies at Purdue University. As stated in his university profile, he specializes in “American Literature and Studies, African American Studies, Cultural Studies, Working Class Studies, Critical Race Theory, and Marxist Theory.” Mullen also serves as a member of the organizing collective for the US Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel and is the co-founder of a national, campus-based ANTIFA organization. 

As part of the <a href="http://campusantifascistnetwork.com/">Campus Antifascist Network </a>(CAN), an ANTIFA-aligned group for university academics, Mullen <a href="https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2017/08/17/campus-group-proposing-broad-countermovement-against-white-nationalism-and-racism">described</a> his role as "to drive racists off campuses and to protect the most vulnerable from fascist attack.”

This sentiment is reflected in the <a href="http://campusantifascistnetwork.com/resources/">resources</a> listed on the CAN website. Not only does CAN declare that free-speech does not extend to “far-right” groups, it actively encourages students and faculty to confront groups on campus that they have labeled far-right, and lobbies universities to ban them. 

Mullen certainly believes that Turning Point USA should be banned from campus - he has previously <a href="https://mondoweiss.net/2017/07/where-zionism-right/">described</a> TPUSA as an “alt-right” group.

According to her university profile, Cooky’s research focuses on “gendered media representations of sport; gender politics of sport and public policies; and how gender shapes sports experiences, cultural meanings, and organizational structures in sports.”
In March 2022, Cooky penned an op-ed for <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/we-should-be-celebrating-lia-thomas-we-did-jackie-robinson-ncna1292521" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a> arguing that Lia Thomas—the biological male who swam on the University of Pennsylvania’s women’s swim team—”should be embraced in the history of progress that sports represent and recognized as the trailblazer that she is.” She says, “For anyone who cares about the advancement of sports, and women’s sports in particular, her win should be celebrated.”
Cooky believes the argument that transgender women have an unfair competitive advantage against biological women is not well founded. She claims, “There is a lack of scientific evidence that conclusively demonstrates a direct link between testosterone and athletic performance.” Rather, she <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/lia-thomas-nbc-news-jackie-robinson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attributes differences</a> in men’s and women’s athletic performances to factors such as “coaching and training, psychological makeup of an athlete, [and] access to resources and equipment.”
Cooky argues Lia Thomas’s “first” of winning the NCAA Division I championship as a transgender athlete is equivalent to Jackie Robinson’s “first” of playing in the MLB.
“There remains though a cultural investment in celebrating sports’ ‘firsts,’ whether that be Robinson as the first Black MLB player, the first openly gay active player in the NBA, the first nonbinary U.S. athlete to participate in the Winter Olympics or the first woman to score in a Power Five college football game.” 
She concludes:
“Part of what makes the ‘first’ stories so compelling is the resilience, determination and love for the sport exhibited by these athletes and their motivation to break down barriers, despite the naysayers. Thomas, as the first transgender athlete to win a Division I NCAA championship, deserves to be placed among the other firsts.”

In an April piece for The Conversation titled “<a href="https://theconversation.com/in-air-michael-jordans-silence-speaks-volumes-about-the-marketing-of-black-athletes-203824" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In ‘Air,’ Michael Jordan’s silence speaks volumes about the marketing of Black athletes</a>,” Dial argued that the movie “Air” depicts what he deems is the exploitation of the black body by Nike in the creation of the Air Jordan basketball sneaker. 
‘“Air”’ becomes the story of how a struggling company created one of the most successful brands in the world on the back of a Black body, a tale as old as the nation itself,” Dial claims.
In the article, he reveals that he is “writing a book that explores the intimate connections between sneakers and Blackness. In it, I argue that the Black body’s long history of objectification and commodification undergirds the branding, mass consumption and culture of sneakers.”
Dial claims that the Air Jordan sneaker is an “extension” of the black body, which the film conveys (in his opinion):
“What ‘Air’ does better than anything else is to unbox a provocative, sobering truth about Jordans’ meteoric rise: They are cast as literal extensions of Black bodies. They represent the literal molding of a Black man’s feet, with their vulcanized rubber, leather and laces encapsulating Black athletic greatness and cool.”
According to Dial, this has been a part of Nike’s business agenda: “[S]ix years after the development of the air midsole, David Falk cracked the code of Nike’s transparent, little black box: Don’t market the technology. Market the body that wears it.”
Dial responded to Peter Moore&#8217;s position in the movie, claiming that sneakers have &#8220;always existed.&#8221; Dial stated, “What Moore cannot know is how right he really is. Deloris Jordan and those five buried generations have always been here.” 
He then compared that statement with his idea of the black body and its abuse by the United States historically and currently:

In June, Dial published a piece titled “<a href="https://theconversation.com/ja-morant-shows-how-a-good-guy-with-a-gun-can-never-be-black-206161" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ja Morant shows how a ‘good guy with a gun’ can never be Black</a>.” This article is about the recent firearm debacle with NBA player Ja Morant, who has received much censure from within and without the NBA for being caught wielding a gun on camera on two separate occasions. 
Dial states, “I’m not looking to defend Morant’s behavior. It was careless, and he could have harmed himself and others. <a href="https://www.cla.purdue.edu/directory/profiles/aaron-dial.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">But as a scholar of Black popular culture</a>, I can’t help but wonder what the reaction would have been if Morant were white.”
He claims the gun culture prevalent in the United States has treated Morant with a double standard that a white person would not have been treated with:
“To many politicians and activists in the gun-obsessed U.S., the freedom to own and flaunt firearms is a sacred right. And yet throughout the nation’s history, gun ownership among Black Americans has elicited fear and recrimination. Even when folks who look like Morant innocuously and legally possess a gun, they find themselves too easily typecast as villains.”
Dial laments the “metaphor of guns” that is used to make nicknames, describe athletic actions in sports, or respond to an exciting play:
“The metaphor of guns also saturates the league in ways that <a href="https://theconversation.com/the-warspeak-permeating-everyday-language-puts-us-all-in-the-trenches-121356" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reflect the country’s obsession with firearms</a>…The alias of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrei_Kirilenko">Andrei Kirilenko</a>…was ‘AK- 47.’ Fans anointed Lakers guard <a href="https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/lakers-guard-austin-reaves-wants-to-get-rid-of-ar-15-nickname/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Austin Reaves</a> with the nickname “AR-15”&#8230; NBA superstar Kevin Durant’s <a href="https://www.instagram.com/easymoneysniper/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Instagram handle</a> is ‘easymoneysniper.’ Watch Hall of Fame broadcaster Mike Breen announce a game, and you’ll inevitably hear <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtIx03UmiiE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">his famous catch phrase</a>, ‘BANG.’”
