SUNY Oswego receives a “C” grade for having a Bias Reporting System but not a Bias Response Team. Bias Reporting Systems and Response Teams are systems or teams of faculty, staff, and sometimes law enforcement.
According to <a href="https://speechfirst.org/bias-reporting-systems/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SpeechFirst</a>, students are “encouraged to report ‘bias incidents’ to these boards (or teams) in the name of inclusion and tolerance, but it’s often unclear what the school considers ‘bias’ in the first place. Overly broad or vague definitions of bias put all kinds of speech at risk of being reported – even unpopular speech which is protected by the First Amendment.”

Denied Turning Point USA Chapter

SUNY Oswego receives a “D” grade for In-State Tuition for Illegal Immigrants. According to the State University of New York, &#8220;New York State law also <a href="https://www.suny.edu/immigration/faq/#:~:text=New%20York%20State%20law%20also,long%20as%20the%20student%20applies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allows</a> undocumented individuals to qualify for lower resident tuition rates if the student graduated from a New York State high school after attending for at least two years, or if the student received a GED after attending a New York GED exam preparation program, as long as the student applies for SUNY admission within 5 years of receiving a diploma or GED.&#8221;
In order to qualify, students are also <a href="https://www.suny.edu/attend/get-started/undocumented/faq/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">required</a> to submit &#8220;a notarized affidavit stating that you will file an application to legalize your immigration status as soon as you are eligible to do so.&#8221;

SUNY Oswego receives a “C” grade for Mask and Vaccine Mandates. According to the <a href="https://ww1.oswego.edu/mental-health-portal/covid-guidance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university</a>, &#8220;State University of New York Chancellor John B. King, Jr. announced on July 28, 2023 that a COVID-19 vaccine will no longer be mandated for students to attend SUNY&#8217;s 64 campuses, effective for summer courses.&#8221;
However, &#8220;COVID-19 vaccinations will be strongly encouraged for students, which is consistent with the guidelines for other viruses, including influenza.&#8221;

SUNY Oswego receives a “D+” grade for the Percent of Students Graduating with STEM Degrees. According to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data Center (<a href="https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/use-the-data" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IPEDS</a>), as of 2020, 4.86% of the current undergraduate student population graduate with a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree. Across the United States, students who graduate with STEM degrees tend to earn more on average than their other student counterparts.

SUNY Oswego receives a “B+” grade for Crime Rates in University City or Town. According to the <a href="https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2018/crime-in-the-u.s.-2018" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Federal Bureau of Investigation</a>, the Oswego, New York violent crime rate was 207.25 per 100,000 people in 2018, lower than the 2018 national average of 380.56 per 100,000 people. While campus safety is of utmost importance, it is also pertinent to consider the crime rates of the surrounding town or city as students often tend to venture off campus, especially after their freshman year.

SUNY Oswego receives a &#8220;C&#8221; grade for Required Western Civilization Courses for Students. As part of the General Education curriculum, students are <a href="https://www.oswego.edu/general-education/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">required</a> to complete courses from four or more categories out of the following:

<a href="http://gilian.tenbergen.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Gilian Tenbergen</a> is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the State University of New York (SUNY) &#8211; Oswego. She further directs the Sexual Neuroendocrinology (SENEU) Lab and serves on the <a href="https://prostasia.org/our-team/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Advisory Council of the Prostasia Foundation</a>. Through both organizations, Dr. Tenbergen provides support and resources to what she refers to as Minor Attracted Persons (MAP). 
The term, “MAP,” is considered to be less stigmatizing as Dr. Tenbergen believes that pedophiles face too much stigmatization, and seeks to differentiate between pedophiles who act on their impulses and those who do not. She believes this distinction can be used to prevent the sexual exploitation of children if a pedophile is not stigmatized. 
In an article for Protasia, she details her approach to <a href="https://prostasia.org/blog/how-maps-can-obtain-help-not-to-offend/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">treating pedophiles so they may lead “law-abiding, offense-free, fulfilling lives.&#8221;</a> Dr. Tenbergen writes the common belief that “all pedophiles/MAPs will eventually offend” is not true, but ensures her readers that many “MAPs” are dedicated to preventing sexual abuse. In the same article, Dr. Tenbergen appears to blame the scrutiny of pedophilia for driving people to commit child sexual abuse (CSA) and consume child sexual exploitation material (CSEM). She writes that many are victims of society’s stigma, which prevents them from seeking help before they offend.  
“But for those in the middle, who may be just looking for information about pedophilia/minor attraction, or who may be actually considering engaging in CSA/CSEM use, we pretend they don’t exist. We actually go so far as a society as to prevent them from seeking help, from obtaining information, from living good lives. What should we do in this circumstance? How can we together improve CSA/CSEM prevention and protect children?”

Like Dr. Tenbergen, the foundation aims to end the “harm” against pedophiles by what it describes as the “predominantly reactive child protection agenda.” 
Prostasia advocates introducing young children to graphic sexual education in school. In a post titled, “<a href="https://prostasia.org/blog/3-simple-steps-that-can-reduce-csa/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">3 Simple Steps That Can Reduce CSA</a>,” author Meagan Ingerman advocates for teaching pre-pubescent children “sex positivity.” This includes sexual pleasure, consent, kinks, and fetishes. She later writes this would include teaching children chronophilias, or the attraction to a person in a separate age range, as part of a “comprehensive, intersectional sex education.” 
The organization further hosts articles advocating <a href="https://prostasia.org/blog/how-the-registry-harms-families/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">against sex offender registry laws</a> and detailing how to avoid detection by law enforcement when engaging in “<a href="https://prostasia.org/blog/online-ageplay-safety-tips/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ageplay</a>.”
Prostasia has opposed Florida’s anti-grooming legislation, which <a href="https://thepostmillennial.com/florida-passes-anti-groomer-law-banning-gender-identity-indoctrination-in-schools" target="_blank" rel="noopener">prevents gender and sexual education from Kindergarten to the 3rd grade</a>.

She has further <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2021/11/18/academics-speak-out-for-old-dominion-u-prof-put-on-leave-after-defending-pedophiles/">defended and organized a petition in support of Alyn Walker</a>, an Old Dominion professor who was fired after stating in an interview with Prostasia there is nothing “immoral” about being attracted to a minor.
