Trinity College receives a &#8220;D&#8221; grade for Mandated Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Training for Staff. In an article titled &#8220;<a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://www.trincoll.edu/news/trinity-colleges-commitment-to-diversity-recognized-at-the-national-level/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trinity College&#8217;s Commitment to Diversity Recognized at the National Level</a>,&#8221; the college says they &#8220;integrated DEI principles into faculty and staff search processes.&#8221;
The article also said, &#8220;At the same time, Trinity is strengthening diversity and inclusion through modifications to the employee application process, which now asks about candidates&#8217; commitments to diversity, through the onboarding process and through continuing staff development, according to Michelle Cabral, associate vice president for human resources.&#8221;
The college also offers <a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://www.trincoll.edu/lgbtqlife/safe-space-program/#:~:text=The%20Trinity%20College%20Safe%20Zone,through%20the%20Queer%20Resource%20Center." target="_blank" rel="noopener">optional</a> participation in the Trinity Safe Zone Member Program with a training titled &#8220;LGBTQ+ Foundations &amp; Allyship.&#8221;

Mandated Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Training for Staff

Trinity College receives a &#8220;C&#8221; grade for having a Bias Reporting System but not a Bias Response Team. Bias Reporting Systems and Response Teams are systems or teams of faculty, staff, and sometimes law enforcement.
According to <a href="https://speechfirst.org/bias-reporting-systems/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SpeechFirst</a>, students are “encouraged to report ‘bias incidents’ to these boards (or teams) in the name of inclusion and tolerance, but it’s often unclear what the school considers ‘bias’ in the first place. Overly broad or vague definitions of bias put all kinds of speech at risk of being reported – even unpopular speech which is protected by the First Amendment.”

Trinity College receives a &#8220;D+&#8221; grade for the Ratio of Right-Leaning Clubs to Left-Leaning Clubs. Out of a list of 20 clubs (10 from each side), the <a href="https://bantamlink.trincoll.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university</a> has one right-leaning club compared to four left-leaning clubs. Young Americans for Liberty is the right-leaning club. Students for Justice in Palestine, Student Anti-Capitalist Anti-Fascist Organization, Encouraging Respect for Sexualities, and Feminists United are the left-leaning clubs.

Denied Turning Point USA Chapter

Trinity College receives a &#8220;D&#8221; grade for Required Equity, Diversity, or Inclusion Courses for Students. Trinity College&#8217;s general education <a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://www.trincoll.edu/trinityplus/curriculum/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">curriculum</a> is made up of 32 academic credits, 3 Trinity &#8220;Plus&#8221; credits, and a wellness requirement.
Within the 32 academic credits, students are required to complete: First-Year Seminar, Foundational Requirements, Distribution Requirements, Writing Intensive Requirements, Global Requirements, and Major Requirements.
Within Trinity College&#8217;s Global Requirement, students have the option to complete <a class="waffle-rich-text-link" href="https://internet3.trincoll.edu/ptools/courselisting.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">courses</a> such as:
<ul>
<li>&#8220;Gender &amp; Sexuality/Transnational,&#8221;</li>
<li>&#8220;Global Inequalities,&#8221;</li>
<li>&#8220;Queer China,&#8221; and</li>

These courses can be bypassed in favor of options such as &#8220;Biology of Infectious Disease,&#8221; &#8220;Jewish Tradition,&#8221; and &#8220;French Cinema.&#8221; However, the amount of biased courses makes it difficult for students to bypass in favor of unbiased courses.

Trinity College receives a &#8220;B&#8221; grade for Protests and Cancelng Speakers. <a href="https://trinitytripod.com/news/students-silently-protest-during-trinitys-annual-festive-tradition/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In December 2023</a>, students wore masks and keffiyehs while holding posters and Palestinian flags in protest of Israel&#8217;s response to the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks. During the event, students &#8220;turned their backs on the designated podium for the president&#8217;s address, facing the audience on the quad silently with their arms linked.&#8221;

Protests and Canceling Speakers

Trinity College receives a &#8220;C&#8221; grade for Required Western Civilization Courses for Students. As part of its general education curriculum, the <a href="https://internet3.trincoll.edu/ptools/coursecatalog.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university</a> offers optional Western Civilizations including

Johnny Eric Williams

<a href="https://internet3.trincoll.edu/FacProfiles/Default.aspx?fid=1000710">Dr. Johnny Williams</a> is a Professor of Sociology at Trinity College. After Republican Congressman Steve Scalise was shot by a Bernie Sanders supporter, Williams said the first responders should have let the Congressmen die for being white. He said white people should &#8220;fucking die&#8221; and called them &#8220;inhuman assholes.&#8221;

<a href="https://internet3.trincoll.edu/FacProfiles/Default.aspx?fid=1000710">Dr. Johnny Williams</a> is a Professor of Sociology at Trinity College. Raether Distinguished Professor of American Studies at Trinity College. According to Baldwin’s faculty profile, “[He] is a leading urbanist, historian, and cultural critic. His work largely examines the landscape of global cities through the lens of the African Diasporic experience.”
His profile also states, “Baldwin’s related interests include universities and urban development, the racial foundations of academic thought, intellectual and mass culture, [b]lack radical thought and transnational social movements.”
In May 2021, Baldwin wrote an opinion editorial called “<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oSzh0qjY17AtwkODSo82AT3NdTnNTDhl/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Why We Should Abolish the Campus Police</a>,” in which he discussed high-profile cases of black people encountering law enforcement. Regarding the death of eight-time convicted criminal George Floyd, who died in Minneapolis Police custody, Baldwin wrote:
“It is almost impossible to read about such unnecessary uses of deadly force by police officers without being reminded of Derek Chauvin’s slow-motion murder of George Floyd … When people took to the streets in the summer [of 2020], there were calls to defund the police or to abolish the current model as a state-sanctioned expression of white supremacy.”
Regarding police presence on college campuses, Baldwin <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oSzh0qjY17AtwkODSo82AT3NdTnNTDhl/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>:
“College campuses should be ground zero for any attempts at police abolition … Many residents of cities applaud the extra support from campus security … But community groups have begun pushing back amid reports of racial profiling or at least the undue surveillance of nonwhite residents by police tasked with serving the interests of largely white institutions.”
In 2021, Baldwin also published “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Shadow-Ivory-Tower-Universities-Plundering/dp/1568588925?asin=1568588925&amp;revisionId=&amp;format=4&amp;depth=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In the Shadow of the Ivory Tower</a>,” a book about the struggling relationship between university police and predominantly black neighborhoods. In Chapter One — entitled “When Universities Swallow Cities” — Baldwin stated:
“The profit motive driving higher education goes as far back as the Atlantic slave trade, as historian Craig Steven Wilder has illustrated in his book Ebony and Ivy … Even in controversy, universities across the country are being forced to reckon with their varying but unavoidable role in facilitating the country’s dominant economic systems, including slavery. During the Civil War the federal government explicitly turned to universities as a key driver of economic growth and urban development.”
Baldwin’s claims that the  U.S. turned “explicitly” to universities during the Civil War are <a href="https://eh.net/encyclopedia/the-economics-of-the-civil-war/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">contradicted by recorded history</a>, which shows that the production and exportation of cotton continued to be the driving economic source for the American North and South. Urban development is attributed to increasing modes of transportation, taxes, and land ownership rights. 
The <a href="https://www.archives.gov/milestone-documents/morrill-act" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first legislation</a> designating federal funds for public higher education granted each state up to 30,000 acres and “laid the foundation for a national system of state colleges and universities.” Thus, colleges and universities were a portion, not the exclusive means, of economic growth in the 19th century.
During a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyW2nml0juU" target="_blank" rel="noopener">panel discussion</a> hosted by <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/charleshfdavisiii" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor Charles H.F. Davis</a>, Baldwin shared his thoughts on college police presence. Commenting on statistics of campus policing Baldwin stated:
“Just to be clear: 75% of schools — that includes public and private — have campus police. Nearly all carry guns. And about 9 in 10 have arrest and patrol jurisdictions beyond the main campus … The major crimes in campus areas are sexual violence and substance abuse, and sometimes vandalism and assault on the part of students, not so-called ‘locals,’ or ‘residents’ … or ‘townies,’ or whatever code of phrase you want to use for black and brown folk in most cases … But the biggest criminals in campus areas, especially at PWIs [predominantly white institutions] … are predominantly white folks.”
