Undocumented applicants must meet the following requirements:

<li>&#8220;Student has graduated from an Illinois public or private high school or received a GED from Illinois.&#8221;</li>
<li>&#8220;Student has attended an Illinois high school for at least three years.&#8221;</li>
<li>&#8220;Student has registered to enter the university after the fall 2003 semester.&#8221;</li>
<li>&#8220;Student provides the university with an affidavit stating he/she will file an application to become a permanent resident of the U.S. once he/she becomes eligible to do so.&#8221;</li>

Undocumented students may also qualify to receive state financial aid.
&#8220;Undocumented student [sic] who are deemed Illinois residents for tuition purposes under state law may be eligible for state financial aid programs, including the State of Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP), under the RISE Act. Starting Fall 2020, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign will also consider RISE-eligible students for instructional financial aid. Undocumented students are ineligible for federal financial aid. However, they still qualify for private scholarships depending on the requirements.&#8221;

Protests and Canceling Speakers

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign receives an “F” grade for Boycotting, Divesting, and Sanctioning Israel (BDS). According to the <a href="https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/campus-divestment-resolutions">Jewish Virtual Library</a>, since the start of the 2013-14 school year, the university’s student body has introduced five pieces of legislation that would require the university to divest from any Israeli company and from companies that do business with Israel. One piece of legislation passed while four failed.

According to the <a href="https://reeec.illinois.edu/about/mission-and-history">website</a> for the REEEC, the center serves as an “intellectual and institutional center for members of the university community and the public interested in Eastern Europe, Russia, and the newly independent states of Eurasia.”
In the book titled, <a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Buying_into_English/9qBqcG-rYsYC?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=inauthor:%22Catherine+Prendergast%22&amp;printsec=frontcover">Buying into English: Language and Investment in the New Capitalist World</a>, Prendergast states that English is the first language of capitalism.

According to his university profile, Cha-Jua is also a founding scholar/trainer of the Policing in a Multiracial Society Program (PSMP.)
His biography states the “PMSP provides systematic anti-racial bias education and training for police recruits attending the University of Illinois’s Police Training Institute (PTI) and researches the racial attitudes of police and the effectiveness of anti-racist training.”
Professor Cha-Jua writes a bi-weekly op-ed column called “RealTalk: A Black Perspective” for The News-Gazette. He begins the article by saying that the majority of black Republicans who run for office “are truly MAGA Black White supremacists who pursue neoliberal policies despite their negative impact on the majority of Black people.”
He compares Stuber to the “incompetent, subliterate and coonish Herschel Walker,” saying he too “reiterates “massa” Trump’s talking points.” <a href="https://www.dictionary.com/browse/coon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dictionary.com</a> defines “coon” as “extremely disparaging and offensive” and describes it as a “contemptuous term used to refer to a black person.”
Cha-Jua ends his piece by writing:
“What kind of Black Republican is Stuber? His words and deeds indicate he’s a genuine MAGA Black White supremacist.” 
Cha-Jua has a history of controversial op-eds. In July 2022, he wrote a piece titled <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220703120602/https://www.news-gazette.com/opinion/columns/real-talk-the-fourth-of-july-is-not-my-independence-day/article_4a0fb847-7762-5fc0-a131-ea5e3645818f.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“The Fourth of July is not my Independence Day.”</a> He states:
“Though adolescents, we knew where the red, white, and blue flew in abundance &#8211; White neighborhoods &#8211; was dangerous territory for us.” 
He adds:
“As long as racial oppression and capitalist exploitation exist, I’ll pass on celebrating the Fourth of July.” 
Another op-ed, titled <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220110075511/https://www.news-gazette.com/opinion/columns/real-talk-we-are-all-to-blame-for-gun-violence/article_30a8ed11-beb9-5baf-9b95-8d35834b4aff.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“We are all to blame for gun violence,”</a> features more of Cha-Jua’s anti-capitalist sentiments. He argues that capitalists and police are to blame for gun violence, writing:

Her biography says she “builds upon Indigenous principles and has argued for a new form of mathematics where humans are no longer centered. This form of mathematics is referred to as living mathematx.”

Gutierrez believes that using terms such as “Pythagorean theorem” and “pi” gives the perception that math “was largely developed by Greeks and other Europeans.” She also argues, “If one is not viewed as mathematical, there will always be a sense of inferiority that can be summoned.” She claims there are many minorities who “have experienced microaggresions from participating in math classrooms… [where people are] judged by whether they can reason abstractly.” 
Gutierrez also says all knowledge is “relational,” writing, “Things cannot be known objectively; they must be known subjectively.”

Their argument continues:
“Female and male people need both estrogen and testosterone to function, and they overlap in their hormone concentrations. If we are interested in how estrogen and testosterone affect athletic performance, then we need to examine these respective hormone levels and how they correlate with athletic outcomes. We cannot rely on gross average differences between the sexes as evidence for differential athletic success. Adherence to a sex binary can lead us astray in this domain of inquiry.” 
Roseman and Ocobock say the discussion about sex <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/professor-biologist-bashed-questioning-existence-two-genders-op-ed-depends-context" target="_blank" rel="noopener">might benefit from asking the question</a>, “If ‘sex’ is the answer, what was the question?” The authors conclude they have “no warrant to make authoritative declarations on this issue from a scientific standpoint that is uninformed by ethical, moral, or social considerations.” They believe they are in “good company” because they “doubt any one medical, scientific or humanistic practitioner would be able to come up with a question that encompasses all of the ways in which humans are affected by sex, however it is construed.”

Roseman and Ocobock say the discussion about sex <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/professor-biologist-bashed-questioning-existence-two-genders-op-ed-depends-context" target="_blank" rel="noopener">might benefit from asking the question</a>, “If ‘sex’ is the answer, what was the question?” The authors conclude they have “no warrant to make authoritative declarations on this issue from a scientific standpoint that is uninformed by ethical, moral, or social considerations.” They believe they are in “good company” because they “doubt any one medical, scientific or humanistic practitioner would be able to come up with a question that encompasses all of the ways in which humans are affected by sex, however it is construed.”
